China's 38 software companies urged to abide by the GPL
Recently,China's 38 well-known software companies and China's Software Union have drafted a proposals, which advocated to abide by the GPL, and advocated to use open source software including China's domestic software, the proposals aimed at protect intellectual property which should belong to the developer of open source software.
Mentioned in the proposal, a number of outstanding open source software companies have emerged in China, and they have developed a number of open source products which have been used in chinese government agencies and key industries. But compared with the movement of foreign open source software, the chinese movement of open source software has an obvious gap, they have no respect for the GPL, use of open source software only, but have no return or any contributions.
there are also exist inflated intellectual property risks of using open source software. The spread tendency of open source software "fear and suspicion" is not conducive to the development of China's software industry.
therefore, it calls on software industry and the community of China, to first support the open source software and promote independent innovation, take full advantage of open source software that mankind's common treasure trove, to enhance the capability for independent innovation in Chinese software industry.
the proposal also permit strictly abide by the GPL and respect the intellectual property rights of the developers.
